Anti Virus
Incoming virus scanning:
All incoming emails are scanned for virus's and worms, and, when detected, are cleaned. The infected file is removed from your email, and you are sent what remains of that email, with a note that our virus scanners have removed the virus.
Outgoing virus scanning:
All outgoing mail that passes from through our outgoing mail servers is scanned for virus' too, just in case you do get infected, you don't want to send everyone in your contact list a virus.
This helps to keep the quality of all email leaving any WebAccess server clean and pure. This means we have a good reputation on the Internet, and our mail servers wont get blocked by other providers, ensuring your mail will get through!
Anti Spam
We have TWO levels of anti spam running on the WebAccess Servers.
The first level is a blanket, non-invasive spam scanning technique where we add extra information to email headers, marking what our servers think is spam, but not deleting it. When the email arrives in your inbox, this will assist your anti-spam tools in your email programs to make a better judgement as to what IS spam, and what ISN'T spam. In effect this boosts the performance of other spam filters further downstream.
Further scanning is done at the mailbox level, where you can tell the server to mark email it thinks as spam, or to simply delete it. You have mailbox-level control with Spam Assassin, and you can even teach the spamfilter on a mailbox level by marking any emails that you identify as spam, so that it, too can learn.
More Information
To use your spam filter, log into the www.webaccess.com.au and bring up your hosting control panel for your website from the My Packages webpage. Once the server window comes up, click on Email. Click on the mailbox that you want to change the spam settings for, and it will present you with options to turn the spam filter on or off for that single email box, and will allow you to adjust settings and sensitivity.
